The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

The picture tells the story of Colin Smith, a young man sentenced after robbing a bakery to stay in reform school. The school Director believes in the rehabilitative power of sport and knowing that Colin is a born runner, persuades him to train to be able to participate in local competitions that will provide him special privileges in case of victory. Most of the film is busy training Colin, during which he recalls the events, people and relationships with them, which led him to this outcome. The day of the event, Colin can easily defeats rivals, but the finish throws a completely unexpected trick...
