Paths of Glory

The action of cinematographic novel unfolds in 1916 on the Western front. Colonel DAX commanded an infantry regiment of the French army. For two years the allies are trying to turn the tide of the war with the Germans. Head of corps General orders Brulard divisional General Miro to attack an impregnable enemy position, called the Ant hill. The failure of the operation was obvious initially, but when the attack ended in complete failure, the General ordered be tried and shot for cowardice three people. Colonel DAX tried in vain to protect soldiers selected at random. They gave their lives to cover up the stupidity and ambitions of the authorities...
